The On-Demand Laundry App

The Challenge: Logistics That Couldn't Keep Up
The concept was simple an "Uber for Laundry" service that would pick up dirty clothes from customers' homes and return them freshly cleaned. The execution was anything but simple. Drivers were wasting time due to poor routing algorithms, pickup and delivery windows were consistently unreliable, and customer complaints were rising to levels that threatened the business's viability.
The existing routing system treated each pickup as an independent trip, ignoring the potential for multi-stop optimisation. Drivers would crisscross neighbourhoods inefficiently, burning fuel and time while customers waited past their promised windows.
The Build: Real-Time Route Optimisation
VentvestPH built a real-time route optimisation engine using the Google Maps API with custom logic specifically designed for multi-stop laundry pickups and deliveries. The system dynamically balanced driver proximity, vehicle capacity, and time window constraints to create optimal routes that updated in real time as new orders came in.
We also implemented a driver assignment algorithm that went beyond simple proximity matching. The algorithm factored in each driver's current load, remaining capacity, route efficiency score, and estimated completion time for existing pickups ensuring balanced workload distribution across the fleet.
The Outcome: Measurable Operational Improvement
The results were immediate and measurable. Driver efficiency increased by 30% as optimised routing eliminated redundant trips and reduced idle time between stops. Average delivery time dropped by 20 minutes, bringing the service well within its promised delivery windows.
Most importantly, customer satisfaction scores improved dramatically from 3.2 to 4.6 stars as reliable pickup and delivery windows rebuilt trust in the service. The operational improvements also reduced per-delivery costs, improving the unit economics that would sustain the business at scale.
